Tesco finest british beef & stilton sandwich.

Personally, I think sandwiches are a work of genius, and if I were ever to invent a time machine, one of the first things I would do is to travel back to the eighteenth century and give the Earl of Sandwich a big smooch.

But seeing as there are only a few days left to Christmas, a.k.a biggest stuff your face-athon of the year (catchy, I know), I thought I would be really generous, and, in the festive spirit of giving, give you the best sandwich-related advice I have: BUY THIS SANDWICH. It's from Tesco so it's easy enough to come by.

Comprised of succulent slices of British beef, a richly tart caramelised onion chutney, Stilton mayonnaise and a rocket salad, all between two pieces of soft wholemeal bread, this is the best embodiment of winter in a sandwich I have ever come across (yes, even more so than all those turkey and cranberry numbers. Generic, if you ask me...)

So what is it that makes this sarnie so beautiful? I think the answer is threefold; firstly, they have chosen their ingredients carefully and sourced them well, making a truly winning combination in every bite. Secondly, they pack this sandwich full. And I mean full - it takes a sufficiently large gob to get your mouth round it, which I love. Lastly, the Stilton mayonnaise is just sublime - Stilton is probably my favourite cheese anyway, and Tesco really don't hold back. None of that wimpy "only a little bit, it's strong!" nonsense, Tesco puts great big lumps of it in their mayonnaise, so the result is both strong and creamy.

Best of British flavours? Certainly. Truly a winter sandwich masterpiece.

  1. Not sure if they were just a limited edition for christmas but have you tried Waitrose stilton and caramelised pear sandwich? Oh my god. amazing. I couldn't believe such a sandwich could be so casually sold in a supermarket, and how people were reaching for other flavours! x

  2. No, I've never even heard of it! Sounds delicious though - I will definitely have to persuade someone to give me a lift to Waitrose now... x

  3. I am currently right in the middle of the US (Minnesota) and have been here for almost exactly 1 year now – I have just developed a sudden and overwhelming urge for the Tesco Roast Beef and Stilton sandwich and saw your blog entry about this.

I am almost drooling remembering how nice this stated. Can you post me some Stilton cheese and chutney? :-)
